No Pants, Please.

Oi. I'm Jay.

I'm in league with Miri, my fellow Boots Crusader of the Polite, Civil, and Sweet Variety.

22. Absurdly silly person. Grad student in English, but has a BA in and passion for Latin, too, hence the Latin handle. :]

And this is where I snark and gush about comics. Or Michelle Dockery. Or other things that I randomly but unabashedly love.

But let me be straight with you.

I'm shamelessly, hopelessly, and incorrigibly infatuated with Rose Wilson... and, well, all those damn Wilsons, really. Needless to say, I'm always game for swooning over her badass self and talking about her nonstop.

I actually run FUCKYEAHROSEWILSON.TUMBLR.COM, so you might wanna check it out!

Part 1: Rebooting the Justice League

Part 2: Rebooting the Legion of Doom

So for the final installment of my “New DC” reboots, I thought I’d take a look at Batman and friends. In some ways these are probably the least drastic of my redesigns (Batman’s been handled better than a lot…

What are heroes without villains? To follow up with my Rebooting the Justice League post, where I treated those characters to a more extreme reboot than DC’s “New 52,” I thought it would be fun to take a look at a redesigned villain team to oppose my redesigned Justice League:

Make…

From Aaron Diaz’s “5 Essential Superhero Redesigns!”:

Starfire

What’s wrong: In the wake of DC’s “new 52” this felt like a no-brainer.  Starfire is a decent character who’s always, in my opinion, gotten the short end of the costume stick.  I get that she’s supposed to be sexually liberated and somewhat polyamorous, and that’s fine, but dressing like a John Carter’s Princess of Mars-themed stripper doesn’t cut it.  Really, up until the Teen Titans cartoon she’s always been in the most awkward and impractical getups for someone fighting crime.

The Fix: I went for the simple route and took some notes from the cartoon (notably the skirt). I wanted to make sure it kept the bubbly, innocent feeling of the character while also hinting at some power (with the exposed arms here).  The overall effect is meant to convey someone who’s tough, cheerful and comfortable flying around in the air.

Ugh, can I tell you how much I love this? Because I do :D

What he highlights about Kory’s character in his comments shows up in the design, and I really enjoy his interpretation (even if it borrows heavily from the cartoon). Well, actually, I could ask that her hair be as monstrously large and wonderful as it used to be, but that’s a minor complaint in light of much larger issues, haha.

So. I guess I’ll just continue to hopelessly pine for this design while being fully aware that I’ll never have anything close to it in real comics. Le sigh.

Why have I never seen this? I even read Dresden Codak. Le sigh.
Ok, the point (don’t start rambling again!): this is incredibly pretty and an awesome idea! A Robin sniper! A Robin that’s Steph! A cool Robin sniper that’s Steph! ALL THINGS THAT ARE GOOD TOGETHER!
And, ha, her expression as she looks up at Bruce seems to visibly speak to the description that he is “crazy bonkers and has way too much money.” Love it.
