No Pants, Please.

Oi. I'm Jay.

I'm in league with Miri, my fellow Boots Crusader of the Polite, Civil, and Sweet Variety.

22. Absurdly silly person. Grad student in English, but has a BA in and passion for Latin, too, hence the Latin handle. :]

And this is where I snark and gush about comics. Or Michelle Dockery. Or other things that I randomly but unabashedly love.

But let me be straight with you.

I'm shamelessly, hopelessly, and incorrigibly infatuated with Rose Wilson... and, well, all those damn Wilsons, really. Needless to say, I'm always game for swooning over her badass self and talking about her nonstop.

I actually run FUCKYEAHROSEWILSON.TUMBLR.COM, so you might wanna check it out!

ladiesmakingcomics:

Gabrielle Gamboa is serializing a comic adaptation of Nathanael West’s Miss Lonelyhearts novella:

The Depression-era story is about a young writer hired to be a newsaper advice columnist. The desperation and sorrow of the letters he receives drives him into a deep depression, and he tries different methods of coping with the outrageous injustice of the world. But the story is also very darkly comic, which is what drew me in to it.

You can pre-order first chapter on Kickstarter for only $6!

Woah, whaaaaat?

I wrote my graduate conference paper and my bibliographic essay on Miss Lonelyhearts last semester.

Nathanael West deserves so much more recognition/appreciation from general readers and academics alike. And a place in the canon of modern American literature.
